Median Wage increase paused

The Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) category is directly linked to the median wage. Amongst other things this measure influences:

- If an employer needs to advertise a role
- If an employer's wage is sufficient to hire a migrant
- The duration of a visa
- If a visa can support the holder's family members to come to NZ, and what they are able to do when they arrive here
- If a holder's partner can work for anyone, or for only accredited employers

So pretty significant stuff!

The median wage will go up in February, from NZD$29.66 to NZD$31.61. However, INZ have confirmed that the AEWV will be uncoupled from this change and will remain at NZD$29.66.

For how long it will stay at the NZD$29.66 we don't know, but it is the first of what we predict to be a raft of changes to the AEWV category in 2024 and will keep you informed as these are announced.
